Um lugar sulfuroso: paisagem e subjetividade em Poços de Caldas

Abstract

A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo uma investigação da paisagem cultural em Poços de Caldas-MG, procurando trazer a contribuição da subjetividade na constituição do sentido de identidade e incorporação urbana necessárias à constituição dos lugares. Partiu-se de uma análise de várias correntes teóricas que tratam do tema de paisagem cultural, e quais seriam as novas abordagens que incluem a subjetividade humana. Depois, foi realizado um aprofundamento de questões históricas constituintes da formação local e todos os simbolismos associados à formação urbana da estância balneária. Algumas hipóteses foram levantadas, transcritas na forma de paradigmas para a cidade, a saber: o da cura, o do ócio e o do bem-estar. Em cada um deles verificaram-se as implicações subjetivas, pela contribuição da psicologia e psicanálise, que moveriam desejos e afetos na memória e construção do espaço urbano de Poços de Caldas, procurando trazer um paralelo nos dias atuais. Realizou-se um breve inventário da paisagem cultural em seu sentido para além do significado das águas, incluindo aspectos como turismo, mineração, industrialização, habitação social e cultura popular. Encerrou-se este estudo com a apresentação de um enfoque poético para se pensar a transformação da paisagem, indagações sobre como gerir a paisagem termal, além de uma contribuição ao lugar “sulfuroso” como forma de atuação possível ao arquiteto que se dedica à cidade humanizada, neste momento atual de embate entre as forças do lugar e o espírito desterritorializante do tempo.

The present research aims at an investigation of the cultural landscape in Poços de Caldas-MG seeking to bring the contribution of subjectivity in the constitution of the sense of identity and urban incorporation necessary to the constitution of places. It started from an analysis of several theoretical currents that deal with the theme of the cultural landscape, and what would be the new approaches that include human subjectivity. Then, a deepening of historical issues related to the composition of the city and all the symbolisms related to its constitution was carried out. Some hypotheses were raised, transcribed in the form of paradigms for the city, namely: that of healing, that of leisure, and that of well-being. In each of them, the subjective implications were verified, due to the contribution of psychology and psychoanalysis, which would move desires and affections in the memory and construction of the urban space of Poços de Caldas, seeking to bring a parallel in the present day. A brief inventory of the cultural landscape was carried out, in addition to the meaning of water, including aspects such as tourism, mining, industrialization, social housing, and popular culture. This study ends with the presentation of a poetic approach to thinking about the transformation of the landscape, questions on how to manage the thermal landscape, as well as a contribution to the “sulfurous” place as a possible form of action for the architect who is dedicated to the city humanized, in this current moment of conflict between the forces of the place and the deterritorializing spirit of the time.
