A hermenêutica ricoeuriana aplicada à análise da religião: uma contribuição às Ciências da Religião

Abstract

Este trabalho é o resultado de uma pesquisa sobre a análise da religião à luz da hermenêutica ricoeuriana, na qual buscou-se evidenciar a contribuição de Paul Ricoeur às Ciências da Religião. Inserido na tradição filosófica, Ricoeur torna-se árbitro diante das diferentes interpretações e ressalta a relevância da hermenêutica filosófica, que, unida à filosofia reflexiva e à fenomenologia, sistematiza sua perspectiva metodológica. Ricoeur analisa a religião apresentando-a como texto, a partir da linguagem religiosa. Através da análise pela hermenêutica do símbolo, seguindo as etapas do texto e da ação, o filósofo francês chega à hermenêutica do si, que lhe permite evidenciar que a religião é compreendida como portadora de sentido. Destaca, ainda, que, no cristianismo, há um problema hermenêutico, desde sua origem: o “evento” Jesus Cristo e sua existência na história mediante a fé dos seguidores, que resulta o sentido hermenêutico daquele evento. Por isso, faz-se necessário “suspeitar” de toda prática interpretativa que não ateste a distância e a apropriação necessária na prática religiosa cristã. O filósofo ressalta os enfoques do pensamento do teólogo R. Bultmann, no que tange ao “processo de demitologização”. Também destaca o pensamento dos “mestres da suspeita“ (Nietzsche, Freud, Feuerbach e Marx), que fizeram parte da história da crítica ao cristianismo, sobretudo a partir da consideração da "consciência falsa", na qual a religião aparece como uma ilusão. Ricoeur dialoga com diferentes perspectivas, chegando a realizar uma hermenêutica fenomenológica da religião. Segundo o autor francês, a religião, enquanto fenômeno, é inerente à condição humana. Pela dimensão simbólica, a religião desperta no fiel o sentido que vem ao encontro da realização humana. Com uma investigação descritiva, compreensiva e analítica mediante referências bibliográficas que concernem ao tema, temos por propósito, apresentar a análise fenomenológico-hermenêutica que Ricoeur faz da religião e inferir dessa prática analítica sua contribuição à nossa área de pesquisa.

This research aims to present the analysis of religion in the light of Ricoeurian hermeneutics. It seeks to highlight the contribution of Paul Ricoeur to the Sciences of Religion. Inserted in the philosophical tradition, Ricoeur becomes an arbiter in the face of different interpretations and emphasizes the relevance of philosophical hermeneutics, which, together with reflective philosophy and phenomenology, systematizes his methodological perspective. It analyzes religion by presenting it as a text, based on religious language. Begins the analysis through the hermeneutics of the symbol, following the steps of the text and action, the French philosopher arrives at the hermeneutics of the self. This allows him to show that religion is understood as a bearer of meaning. It also highlights that in Christianity there is a hermeneutic problem since its origin: the “event” Jesus Christ and his existence in history through the faith of the followers. From this results the hermeneutical meaning of that event. Therefore, it is necessary to “suspicion” any interpretive practice that does not attest to the existing distance and the necessary appropriation in Christian religious practice. The philosopher highlights theological approaches of the theologian R. Bultmann, regarding the “demythologization process”. It also highlights the thought of the "masters of suspicion" (F. Nietzsche, S. Freud, L. Feuerbach and K. Marx), who were part of the history of criticism of Christianity, especially from the consideration of the "false conscience", where the religion appears as an illusion. Ricoeur dialogues with different perspectives, coming to carry out a phenomenological hermeneutics of religion. According to the French author, religion as a phenomenon is inherent to the human condition. Through the symbolic dimension, religion awakens in the believer the meaning that comes towards human fulfillment. With a descriptive, comprehensive and analytical investigation through bibliographical references concerning the theme, we have, therefore, the purpose of presenting Ricoeur's phenomenological-hermeneutic analysis of religion and inferring from this analytical practice his contribution to our research area.
