A questão filosófica da morte na sociedade contemporânea à luz da metafísica da morte de Arthur Schopenhauer

Abstract

Este trabalho analisa o retrato da morte desde os primórdios da filosofia até o contemporâneo, por meio de uma abordagem histórica, filosófica e literária. Aprofunda-se no horizonte filosó fico de Arthur Schopenhauer, investigando sua metafísica da morte e sua visão da morte como fim da individualidade, além de explorar o medo associado a ela. O estudo prossegue exami nando diversas perspectivas sobre a mortalidade, desde a análise de Philippe Ariès, renomado historiador francês, sobre a morte na sociedade até as consolações metafísicas atribuídas a esse fenômeno. A pesquisa também investiga o tabu da morte na sociedade moderna, revelan do os diferentes modos como a contemporaneidade lida com essa certeza existencial: a morte. Esta pesquisa pretende investigar não apenas o fenômeno da morte em si, mas o impacto que ela tem na construção da consciência humana e suas nuances na sociedade. Refletir sobre a morte é refletir sobre a vida, pois a morte é uma possibilidade que se apresenta a todo ser vi vente, especialmente ao ser humano, de forma consciente. A metodologia adotada para este trabalho se deu por meio de uma investigação e interpretação fenomenológica e hermenêutica, com um levantamento bibliográfico que engloba a temática da finitude humana, destacando Arthur Schopenhauer, que atuou como plano de fundo e guia da pesquisa. Os resultados obti dos foram surpreendentes ao constatar como a morte continua sendo, conforme colocado por Schopenhauer, a musa da filosofia. Observa-se que a morte continua sendo uma geradora de reflexões profundas sobre a condição humana e a vida em todas as suas possibilidades exis tenciais. Conclui-se, dessa forma, que a morte é um fenômeno que se apresenta ao ser huma no, podendo causar um misto de sentimentos e emoções, especialmente àqueles que testemu nham a morte de outro e se angustiam com sua própria mortalidade. As atitudes adotadas di ante da morte são moldadas pela cultura e pelo pensamento contemporâneo. Assim, é possível observar que a postura de uma sociedade diante da morte configura seu agir social e o modo como o indivíduo se relaciona com o seu ser-no-mundo. A filosofia de Arthur Schopenhauer contribui para a compreensão da morte como um vazio, um medo irracional e, ao mesmo tempo, uma libertação do sofrimento, um estado ontológico e natural de todo ser vivente, es pecialmente do ser humano. Portanto, no contemporâneo, é possível dar passos significativos, baseados em sua filosofia, para viver a vida com maior intensidade, atribuindo verdadeiro significado ao existir.

This work analyzes the portrayal of death from the beginnings of philosophy to the contempo rary era, through a historical, philosophical, and literary approach. It delves into Arthur Scho penhauer's philosophical horizon, investigating his metaphysics of death and his view of death as the end of individuality, as well as exploring the fear associated with it. The study proceeds by examining various perspectives on mortality, from the analysis of Philippe Ariès, a renow ned French historian, on death in society to the metaphysical consolations attributed to this phenomenon. The research also investigates the taboo of death in modern society, revealing the different ways in which contemporaneity deals with this existential certainty: death. This research aims to investigate not only the phenomenon of death itself but also its impact on the construction of human consciousness and its nuances in society. Reflecting on death is reflec ting on life, as death is a possibility presented to every living being, especially to humans, consciously. The methodology adopted for this work involved a phenomenological and her meneutic investigation and interpretation, with a bibliographical survey encompassing the theme of human finitude, highlighting Arthur Schopenhauer, who acted as the background and guide for the research. The results obtained were surprising in finding how death continu es to be, as stated by Schopenhauer, the muse of philosophy. It is observed that death continu es to generate profound reflections on the human condition and life in all its existential possi bilities. It is concluded, therefore, that death is a phenomenon presented to human beings, capable of causing a mixture of feelings and emotions, especially for those who witness the death of others and anguish over their own mortality. Attitudes adopted towards death are shaped by culture and contemporary thought. Thus, it is possible to observe that a society's attitude towards death shapes its social actions and how individuals relate to their being-in the-world. Arthur Schopenhauer's philosophy contributes to the understanding of death as emptiness, an irrational fear, and at the same time, a liberation from suffering, an ontological and natural state of every living being, especially of the human being. Therefore, in the con temporary era, it is possible to take significant steps, based on his philosophy, to live life with greater intensity, attributing true meaning to existence.
