Centro De Convivência /Setor / “Bróduei”:Comunicação, Cultura e Interação em uma Rede Social Pré-Internet

Abstract

O Centro de Convivência Cultural (CCC) de Campinas e seu entorno transformaram-se, nos anos 80 e 90 do século XX, em uma espécie de rede social pré-Internet, por meio da qual artistas e intelectuais conectavam-se e com seu público de modo intenso, inventivo e produtivo. Bares e restaurantes que surgiram ao redor do complexo cultural também se firmaram como importantes espaços de manifestações artísticas, o que levou a região a ser batizada como “Setor” ou “Bróduei”. O resultado desse fenômeno urbano, até então parcialmente investigado, foi um dos mais ricos ciclos da cultura campineira da segunda metade do Século XX, com a realização de festivais de música e de teatro, gravações de LPs, formação de bandas, blocos carnavalescos, abertura de programas de fomento cultural e atração de artistas de renome nacional e internacional. Posto esse contexto histórico, analisamos a evolução da comunicação, as relações interpessoais, os conceitos de cultura e as formas de cotidianidade, buscando entender por que o período, a última década antes do início comercial da Internet no Brasil, foi marcado pela intensificação do interesse pelas artes na cidade. Ademais, foram realizadas pesquisas documentais em meios de comunicação, órgãos oficiais e colhidos depoimentos no formato audiovisual de artistas, produtores culturais e consumidores. Essas entrevistas ocorreram de modo semiestruturado e tiveram o objetivo de estimular, de forma livre, as memórias dos depoentes que revelaram nuances do surgimento do Setor, quem foram seus principais personagens e de que maneira a região do Convivência converteu-se em um polo criativo. Por meio das informações reunidas nesta pesquisa de Mestrado, concluímos que as características arquitetônicas, a diversidade, o respeito pelas diferenças, os meios de comunicação, as universidades, a Orquestra Sinfônica de Campinas e o contexto histórico, social e político foram essenciais para transformar o Setor em um marco cultural de Campinas.

Centro de Convivência Cultural (CCC) in Campinas and its surroundings, in the 80’s and 90’s of the 20th century, were a kind of pre-Internet social network. Artists and intellectuals were connected with each other and with their audiences in an intense, inventive and productive way. Bars and restaurants that sprung up around the cultural complex also established themselves as important spaces for artistic manifestations, which led the region to be baptized as "Setor" (Sector) or "Bróduei" (Broadway). The result of this urban phenomenon, so far partially investigated, was one of the richest cycles of campineira culture in the second half of the 20th century, with the realization of music and theater festivals, LP’s recordings, band formations and carnival blocks, opening of cultural development programs and the attraction of local and international renowned artists. Given this historical context, we analyzed the evolution of communication, interpersonal relationships, concepts of culture and forms of daily life. We also try to understand why the period, the last decade before the commercial launch of the Internet in Brazil, was marked by the intensification of interest for the arts in the city. Media and official agencies gave us data for the documentary research. And audiovisual testimonials were collected from artists, cultural producers and consumers. These interviews were semi-structured and aimed to stimulate, freely, the memories of the interviewed. These memories reveal nuances of the past of the Setor and how the Convivência region became a creative hub. Through the information gathered in this master's research we conclude that the architectural characteristics, the diversity, the respect for differences, the means of communication, the universities, the Campinas Symphonic Orchestra and the historical, social and political context were essential to transform the Setor into a cultural landmark of Campinas.
