O ensino profissionalizante em Mogi Mirim: o legado da ETEC Pedro Ferreira Alves

Abstract

Esta dissertação tem como objetivo estudar o legado da ETEC PEDRO FERREIRA ALVES, instituição que introduziu o ensino profissionalizante na cidade paulista de Mogi Mirim. Aborda o início da oferta desta nova modalidade de ensino no Brasil a partir da República visando produzir mão-de-obra para novas áreas produtivas, principalmente para atender o surgimento das primeiras indústrias. Estuda as primeiras escolas profissionais no Estado - os Liceus de Artes e Ofícios e demais modelos criados com a mesma finalidade, como as escolas industriais e as escolas técnicas e as características de ensino em tais instituições: produzir braços para suprir demandas emergentes da época, a diferenciação do ensino técnico com o tradicional, as inserções diferenciadas destes do ponto de vista social, ficando o ensino profissionalizante inicialmente à margem da vida urbana e oferecido em escolas que abrigavam os filhos pobres dos imigrantes, escravos livres e demais segmentos menos favorecidos da sociedade. O estudo de caso escolhido para o desenvolvimento da pesquisa foi a Escola Técnica Pedro Ferreira Alves, de Mogi Mirim, que iniciou seu funcionamento nos anos 60 como “Ginásio Industrial”, passou por várias outras denominações ao longo dos anos e continua seu trabalho junto aos jovens da cidade e região. A pesquisa quer mostrar o significado cultural e a memória da ETEC para a cidade e região, não só como produtora de mão-de-obra qualificada, mas como formadora de cidadãos e que integra hoje o patrimônio histórico da cidade bem como o seu patrimônio imaterial por estar inserida de forma ativa desde sua fundação na memória coletiva dos moradores de Mogi Mirim. A preservação e o resgate da memória, o patrimônio material e imaterial e a importância da ETEC para a vida coletiva da cidade também serão focos da pesquisa, mostrando como sua presença foi e ainda é relevante para a formação da comunidade.

This dissertation aimed to study THE LEGACY OF ETEC PEDRO FERREIRA ALVES, an institution that introduced vocational education in the city of Mogi Mirim, São Paulo. It addresses the beginning of the offer of this new type of education in Brazil from the Republic onwards, clearly training labor for new productive areas, mainly to attend to the emergence of the first industries. It studies the first professional schools in the State - the Lyceums of Art and Craft and other models created with the same standards, as industrial schools and technical schools and the characteristics of teaching in such institutions: producing branches to meet emerging demands of the time, the differentiation of technical and traditional education, with different insertions from the social point of view, with vocational education being charged outside urban life and offered in schools that housed the poor children of immigrants, free slaves and other less favorable segments à society. The case study chosen for the development of the research was the Pedro Ferreira Alves Technical School, from Mogi Mirim, which began operating in the 60s as an "Industrial Gym", went through several other names over the years and continues its work with the young people from the city and region. The research aims to show the cultural meaning and memory of ETEC for the city and region, not only as a producer of qualified labor, but as an educator of citizens and which today integrates the city's historical heritage as well as its intangible heritage. for being actively inserted since its foundation in the collective memory of the residents of Mogi Mirim. The preservation and rescue of memory, material and immaterial heritage and the importance of ETEC for the collective life of the city will also be the focus of the research, showing how its presence was and still is relevant to the formation of the community.
