O conceito de Deus em Edith Stein

Abstract

Este Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso tem por objetivo analisar qual o conceito de Deus no pensamento filosófico de Edith Stein. Por meio de um estudo aprofundado de seus escritos, buscamos compreender como Edith Stein concebe a relação da razão natural com a razão sobrenatural, entender qual o papel da fé no sistema filosófico steiniano, analisar o que a autora entende por verdade. Ao estudar a obra filosófica de Edith Stein, nos deparamos com um vasto material que compreende mais de duas décadas da produção literária da filósofa. Partindo do ser finito chegar a compreensão dos ser eterno, auxiliados pela razão natural e pela razão sobrenatural. Por isso delimitamos nossa pesquisa na leitura de suas obras principais a um período de sua produção literária após sua conversão ao cristianismo, ou seja, a partir de 1921. As principais obras utilizadas na elaboração deste trabalho foram: Ser finito e ser eterno (1936) e A Ciência da Cruz (1941), outras obras importantes de apoio foram as cartas escritas a partir de 1921. Por meio da leitura destes e outros textos que fazem parte de nossa referência bibliográfica, buscamos apresentar da maneira mais clara possível, o que Edith Stein compreendeu por Deus, e, como ela traduz isso em suas obras filosóficas da segunda fase de sua produção literária. A partir dos quais podemos concluir que o conceito Deus é compreendido na obra de Stein deste a experiência familiar como o Eterno, Deus que se apresenta ao povo judeu, que o elege dentre todos os povos para fazer com ele uma aliança. Posteriormente, auxiliada pela reflexão aristotélico-tomista, a filósofa compreende a Divindade como: ato puro, primeiro ente, o ser, aquele que pode dar o ser a outrem. Por fim, entramos nas elucubrações filosóficas sobre a Trindade, o Pai Criador, o Filho, da mesma substância que o Pai, o Espírito Vivificador. Até concluir seu pensamento contemplando a figura do Crucificado, sendo introduzidos em uma ciência da Cruz.

This undergraduate thesis aims to analyze the concept of God in Edith Stein's philosophical thought. Through an in-depth study of her writings, we seek to understand how Edith Stein conceives the relationship between natural reason and supernatural reason, understand the role of faith in Stein's philosophical system and analyze what the author understands by truth. When studying Edith Stein's philosophical work, we are faced with a vast material that comprises more than two decades of the philosopher's literary production. Starting from the finite being, arriving at the understanding of the eternal being, aided by natural reason and supernatural reason. That is why we delimited our research in the reading of her main works to a period of literary production after her conversion to Christianity, that is, from 1921 onwards. The main works used in the elaboration of this thesis were: Finite and Eternal Being (1936) and Science of the Cross (1941), other important supporting works were the letters written from 1921 onwards. Through the reading of these and other texts that are part of our bibliographical reference, we seek to present in the clearest possible way, what Edith Stein understood by God, and how she translates this into her philosophical works of the second phase of her literary production. From which we can conclude that the concept of God is understood in Stein's work from this familiar experience as the Eternal. God who presents himself to the Jewish people, who chooses him from among all peoples to make an alliance. Subsequently, aided by the Aristotelian-Thomist reflection, the philosopher understands the Divinity as: pure act, first entity, the being, the one who can give being to another. Finally, we enter the philosophical lucubrations about the Trinity, the Creator Father, the Son, of the same substance as the Father, the Life-giving Spirit. Until the conclusion of Stein's thought contemplating the figure of the Crucified One, being introduced into a science of the Cross.
