As fazendas do Sul de Minas e a formação do território: valorização e salvaguarda do patrimônio regional

Abstract

O conjunto de fazendas localizado no sul do estado de Minas Gerais representa um grande acervo de remanescentes da formação do território desde as primeiras tentativas de chegada às minas de ouro até a afirmação da região como maior produtora de itens exportados para a Corte. As fazendas são exemplares formadores de uma paisagem rural, que será analisada como representação espacial do processo de construção do território e como geradora das pequenas cidades existentes na região. Ao analisar os valores simbólicos associados à paisagem, pretende-se demonstrar que as ações de proteção para o conjunto de bens materiais e imateriais que compõem o território sul mineiro necessitam se apoiar em novos parâmetros de atribuição de valor e novas escalas de apreensão. Portanto, a hipótese central é a de que a paisagem cultural da região estudada combina uma geografia específica, com elementos naturais singulares e um significativo patrimônio material e imaterial que ainda se mantém integrado por meio da reiteração de práticas sociais, ao longo do tempo, cujo valor só pode ser aferido quando se volta o campo de apreensão para a história da formação do território e da paisagem e não para os elementos significativos isoladamente.

The ensemble of farms located in the south of the state of Minas Gerais, represents a great collection of reminiscences in the formation of the territory from the first attempts of arrival at the gold mines until the affirmation of the region as the most producer of items exported to the Court. The farms are exemplary creators of a rural landscape, which will be analyzed as a spatial representation in the process of construction of the territory and as the generator of the small cities in the region. In analyzing the symbolic values associated with the landscape, it is intended to demonstrate that the protection actions for the set of material and immaterial goods that make up the southern territory of Minas Gerais need to be supported by new parameters of value attribution and new scales of apprehension. Therefore, the central hypothesis is that the cultural landscape of the studied region combines a specific geography with singular natural elements and a significant material and immaterial patrimony that still remains integrated through the reiteration of social practices, over time, whose value can only be measured when the field of apprehension is returned to the history of the formation of the territory and the landscape and not to the significant elements alone.
