A soberania das ilhas Curilas de 1945 a 1956

Abstract

Este trabalho tem como objetivo entender o que garantiu a posse das Ilhas Curilas do Sul para a União Soviética após o fim da Segunda Guerra Mundial, abordando as relações internacionais, com enfoque em soberania e poder. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida por meio do estudo de caso, compreendendo introdução, contextualização histórica, referencial teórico, análise neorrealista da soberania das Ilhas Curilas e conclusão. A revisão bibliográfica explorou os textos originais dos tratados firmados a respeito das Ilhas Curilas, análises da política externa russa e japonesa e conceitos do realismo estrutural ou neorrealismo. Os resultados obtidos indicam que a soberania aliada ao poder formava a principal razão para que a União Soviética tivesse a posse das Ilhas Curilas do Sul. A discussão dos resultados abordados contempla aspectos como os vencedores da Segunda Guerra Mundial e a Declaração Conjunta Nipo Soviética de 1956. Conclui-se que a União Soviética possuía a maioria dos indicativos para deter a posse daqueles territórios, como influência, persuasão, tomada de decisão, prestígio e força bélica. Este estudo busca catalogar o tema na língua portuguesa além de contribuir para a discussão dos resultados sobre aqueles territórios buscando entender o que levou aquela separação após a segunda guerra mundial considerando uma teoria de relações internacionais. Recomenda-se visar a história recente da disputa com uma ampla margem temporal em relação a data de início de futuras pesquisas, já que esse tema tende a permanecer estagnado na maior parte do tempo.

This work aims to understand what ensured the possession of the Southern Kuril Islands for the Soviet Union after the end of World War II, addressing international relations with a focus on sovereignty and power. The research was conducted through a case study, including an introduction, historical context, theoretical framework, neorealist analysis of the sovereignty of the Kuril Islands, and conclusion. The literature review explored the original texts of treaties regarding the Kuril Islands, analyses of Russian and Japanese foreign policy, and concepts of structural realism or neorealism. The results obtained indicate that sovereignty coupled with power was the main reason for the Soviet Union's possession of the Southern Kuril Islands. The discussion of the results covers aspects such as the winners of World War II and the 1956 Soviet-Japanese Joint Declaration. It is concluded that the Soviet Union had the majority of indicators to retain possession of those territories, including influence, persuasion, decision-making, prestige, and military strength. This study seeks to catalog the topic in the Portuguese language and contribute to the discussion of the results regarding those territories, seeking to understand what led to their separation after World War II considering a theory of international relations. It is recommended to focus on the recent history of the dispute with a broad temporal margin in relation to the start date of future research, as this topic tends to remain stagnant most of the time.
