Este estudo se concentrará em investigar o conceito de justiça na filosofia de Tomás de Aquino, explorando suas nuances e implicações no contexto das relações sociais e políticas. A análise se fundamenta na definição de justiça segundo Tomás de Aquino e sua base na filosofia aristotélica, destacando as distinções entre justiça distributiva e comutativa. A investigação se centra na questão: Considerando que a justiça ordena o ser humano em suas relações com os outros, seja individualmente ou no contexto de uma comunidade, como a filosofia de Tomás de Aquino entende a relação entre justiça e o bem comum? De que modo a justiça, em seu caráter de virtude geral, orienta as ações humanas para o bem coletivo, tanto no nível individual quanto comunitário? O objetivo principal é analisar a concepção de justiça em Tomás de Aquino, com ênfase em sua função de ordenar as relações humanas em direção ao bem comum. Além disso, busca-se compreender como a justiça, enquanto virtude geral, se relaciona com outras virtudes e sua aplicabilidade na prática do bem coletivo no contexto contemporâneo. Será realizada uma análise textual das questões do Tratado de Justiça na Suma Teológica de Tomás de Aquino. Além disso, a pesquisa incluirá uma revisão de literatura de filósofos tomistas que abordam o tema. Espera-se que a análise revele a relevância contínua da concepção de justiça de Aquino para questões contemporâneas, destacando a justiça como uma virtude que promove o bem comum e regula as ações humanas em relação ao próximo. Além disso, a distinção entre justiça distributiva e comutativa será elucidada. A investigação sobre o conceito de justiça em Tomás de Aquino oferece uma compreensão profunda da justiça como virtude moral e sua importância para a harmonia social e moral. This study will focus on investigating the concept of justice in the philosophy of Thomas Aquinas, exploring its nuances and implications within the context of social and political relations. The analysis is grounded in Aquinas’s definition of justice and its foundation in Aristotelian philosophy, highlighting the distinctions between distributive and commutative justice.The investigation centers on the question: Considering that justice orders human beings in their relationships with others, whether individually or within a community, how does Aquinas’s philosophy understand the relationship between justice and the common good? How does justice, in its character as a general virtue, guide human actions toward the collective good, both on an individual and communal level? The primary objective is to analyze Aquinas’s conception of justice, with an emphasis on its role in ordering human relations toward the common good. Furthermore, it seeks to understand how justice, as a general virtue, relates to other virtues and its applicability in the practice of collective good in contemporary contexts. A textual analysis of the questions in the Treatise on Justice in Aquinas’s *Summa Theologica* will be conducted. Additionally, the research will include a literature review of Thomistic philosophers addressing this theme. The analysis is expected to reveal the ongoing relevance of Aquinas’s conception of justice for contemporary issues, emphasizing justice as a virtue that promotes the common good and regulates human actions in relation to others. Moreover, the distinction between distributive and commutative justice will be elucidated. The investigation into the concept of justice in Aquinas offers a profound understanding of justice as a moral virtue and its importance for social and moral harmony. The analysis will contribute to advancing knowledge in moral philosophy and ethics, providing a robust foundation for the practical implementation of justice in current social and political interactions.
