Objective: analyze the social responsibility actions of large agribusiness companies in Brazil to understand how they are dealing with sustainability issues.
Method: this research is classified as documentary and exploratory with a qualitative approach, using the content analysis technique for data processing.
Main results: results analyze and compare policies aimed at managing the environment, animal welfare, social management and corporate governance at JBS, Raízen Energia, Cosan, Ambev, and Marfrig Global Foods.
Relevance/originality: the study is unprecedented and presents an analysis of sustainability policies in one of the most relevant segments for the Brazilian economy.
Theoretical/methodological contributions: the study contributes to discussions on sustainable policies developed by large agribusiness companies in Brazil, interpreting the way they are put into practice and how companies benefit from it.
