Abstract
The 2020 Basic Sanitation Framework is at the heart of discussions on the universalization of sanitation services. Updated through Law No. 14,026/2020, it advocates access to drinking water and equitable sanitation for the entire Brazilian population by 2033. In addition, the National Water and Basic Sanitation Agency becomes part of the sector's regulatory system, providing more legal certainty to concessionaires. In this sense, this research aims to analyze indicators of water supply and sanitation in the Metropolitan Region of Campinas, in order to point out and monitor the situation of municipalities in terms of access to these services. Therefore, the method is characterized as exploratory with a qualitative approach, as it uses data provided by the National Sanitation Information System for the period from 2016 to 2020. The choice of research object is due to the fact that the Metropolitan Region of Campinas presents specific economic dynamism, which makes the region highly developed and of economic and social interest. Through the values assumed by the indicators throughout the analyzed period, it was possible to verify that the indicators of water supply and sanitary sewage present values close to the indicator of the total population of the municipalities, which strengthens the conception that the region has such services for a large part of the population residing in the Metropolitan Region of Campinas.
