A formação do homem em Platão

Abstract

O horizonte da investigação está atrelado à visão platônica de filosofia, educação e política, contrapondo desafios da sociedade moderna relacionados à formação humana e moral. Por isso, surge a necessidade de voltar-se para os filósofos clássicos, isto é, a origem ocidental, onde situaria uma possível solução para tais problemas. O propósito esteve atrelado ao seguimento dos objetivos de leitura e elaboração de fichamentos, bem como de investigação de conceitos filosóficos que dão margem argumentativa para formulação do ideal destacado. Assumindo, pois, o problema do filósofo evidenciado, que consiste no distanciamento de sua essência, o presente trabalho visa pesquisar a respeito do homem-filósofo, a partir de uma releitura do clássico autor, Platão, que em sua obra “A República” desenvolveu seu ideal de formação humana. Para tanto, a metodologia escolhida foi a de exploração bibliográfica, para melhor aproveitamento do texto base e de seus comentadores. Nesse sentido, se por um lado é destacada a deterioração humana, no que diz respeito a filosofia, ao conhecimento e as virtudes indispensáveis para o bem viver e agir moral (dada a perspectiva clássica tradicional), por outro é apresentada uma reinterpretação de Platão e da sua filosofia, que aponta, neste caso, para um pleno desenvolvimento humano integral. Após o longo percurso da estrutura platônica para a resposta à formação humana, extrai-se a conclusão, correspondente à hipótese sublinhada no Projeto de Pesquisa de que o plano de formação humana, proposto por Platão em “A República”, consiste, em suma, em uma formação filosófica-integral, que visa o maior desenvolvimento humano em prol da justiça e do bem comum.

The horizon of this investigation is tied to the Platonic view of philosophy, education, and politics, in contrast with the challenges of modern society concerning human and moral formation. Hence arises the need to return to the classical philosophers—that is, to the origins of Western thought—where a possible solution to such problems may be situated. The purpose of this study followed the objectives of reading and reading notes, as well as examining philosophical concepts that provide argumentative grounding for the formulation of the proposed ideal. Assuming the problem highlighted by the philosopher—namely the distancing from his own essence—this work aims to investigate the figure of the philosopher-man through a reinterpretation of the classical author Plato, who develops his ideal of human formation in The Republic. The chosen methodology was bibliographic exploration, allowing for a deeper understanding of the primary text and its commentators. In this sense, while human deterioration is emphasized—regarding philosophy, knowledge, and the virtues indispensable for good living and moral action (from a traditional classical perspective)—a reinterpretation of Plato and his philosophy is also presented, pointing toward a comprehensive and integral model of human development. After examining the Platonic structure for responding to the problem of human formation, the conclusion reached confirms the hypothesis outlined in the Research Project: that the model of human formation proposed by Plato in The Republic ultimately consists of an integral philosophical formation aimed at the fullest human development in pursuit of justice and the common good.
