Parkinson's disease (PD) is a serious neurodegenerative disease, caused by the progressive death of dopamine-producing nerve cells, thus triggering important changes. Since the rehabilitation of these individuals is prolonged, it is up to the physiotherapist proportionally in addition to promoting functional benefits, it must also motivate and instigate patients. In this sense, augmented reality (AR) is a new technology that has been used in physiotherapy for auxiliary treatment. Thus, the present study aims to analyze the benefits of AR, without assistance in the physiotherapeutic treatment of individuals with PD. For this, a bibliographic search was performed in online databases, thus obtaining two studies, which were included in this work. The first used as an AR device or Google Glass, identifying that, in addition to the functional improvement, or the study with a new technology that was feasible to be performed, the conduct was accepted by the participants and is a safe procedure. In turn, or second, which uses an AR device with audiovisual stimuli, obtains improvements in the engines, decreases the frequency of freezing and increases the benefits in patients with disease in more advanced patients. In addition, an AR appears to be a viable technology to be implemented both in clinical treatment, under the supervision of physiotherapists, and in the family environment, with prior guidance and monitoring. It seems to generate immediate functional and cognitive effects for its users and can be used from different types of devices and software. In addition, this technology has also been studied in the rehabilitation of individuals with other pathologies, such as post-stroke and also in healthy elderly people. Information technology areas showing studies on the development of AR platforms and prototypes for rehabilitation, with proposals for future validations. Finally, the use of AR in the rehabilitation of individuals with PD provides functional and cognitive benefits for patients, motivating and desirable for users, but further clinical studies are needed to compose these findings.
